A little bit about where I am now…

Passionate about making a difference.

I have evolved from Astrophysics roots into managing complex computational environments supporting the development of research talent. I’m in an influential position where I can radically improve the quality, design and scope of the provision to support research computing, at scale, across an entire organisation – this is well exciting!

Currently pursuing an Executive MBA to round off a few corners and to immerse myself with like minded professionals. Through this I’m exploring and developing leadership skills, developing capability in others, developing stakeholder management strategies, managing complex supply chains, maximising innovation opportunities, influencing others, business analytics, building new services and improving existing ones, .

Bigger take-aways for me have been on the understanding, developing and enthusing people and not being afraid to fail.  This touches on change processes, staff development, leadership, giving that personal touch so they all feel they are valued.  We learn from everything we do, and the feedback we get. The more you do, the more you will learn.  Never stop trying!

Even though, and especially with a young family, this is a lot of work and effort, I’m really enjoying this experience and I’m glad I took this opportunity. There is no time like the present to do these things.

Other interesting things about me are that I’m mad keen on Jiu Jitsu over the last 18 years and I have over 30yrs experience in other Martial Arts. I love the to see others succeed in their personal achievements and goals, and to what them grow.

Saving the most important to last, my growing family. This is where I’m enjoying spending the most of my time and energy.  They are the best.
